Elisa's Priorities

  • Addressing Newark Housing insecurity includes high housing cost relative to households’ income. Newark residents need viable options to address limited, available and affordable homes and rental units. This insecurity drives additional challenges to our city as in the mass exodus of middle-class families, taking school age children, and impacting our local schools.

  • Securing resources for Public Health & Safety will always be a top priority. This includes advocating for our first responders to ensure they are supported and funded. Ensuring that basic social services are sustainable and readily available to our underserved residents here in the city.

  • Promoting Fiscal Responsibility by exploring alternate and additional sources of funding to deliver on her commitment to progress for Newark.

  • Facilitating Local business growth by providing support resources, calling for improved zoning and exploring tax incentives. Local business can provide incredible early career opportunities for many of our residents, ranging from service, trade and tech/bio tech.

  • Expanding Recreation & Entertainment Options throughout the city. This not only a great opportunity to meet the needs of all our residents but also to attract visitors and the revenue they bring.

  • Fiercely Protecting Newark’s Environment means that when weighing new solutions to our city's challenges, we must always consider the potential cost to our environment including greenspaces and wetlands and overall safe spaces for our residents.
